Pixie Lott wowed unsuspecting Battersea Power Station shoppers on Thursday (April 18) when she and her band played a surprise pop-up gig for charity. The surprise ‘Life Lounge’ appearance was in conjunction with Cancer Research UK helping to launch their new ‘Plays for Life’ playlist – a new initiative alongside their famous Race for Life charity run.
Pixie Lott was heard singing classics like Boys and Girls, All About Tonight plus a sneak peek of her new hits. Cancer Research UK has invited the nation to submit their favorite songs for the ‘Plays for Life’ playlist to mark the launch of the 2024 Race for Life season.

Pop star Pixie Lott said: “So many of the important moments in my life have a special song attached to them, evoking a memory that takes me right back. Music is such a powerful tool and I’m delighted to be adding my mark to Playing for life and hearing what other songs are added in. Every time I hear Everybody’s Talkin’ I think of my Nan.
“I love that it’s an emotional song but has a positive feel to it, which is why I thought it would be a great addition to the playlist. Race for Life is such an important event that helps fund vital cancer research that saves life. , so I’m happy to play a small part in getting the message out.”
The gig was held less than a mile from where the first Race for Life started in 1994. The new Plays for Life program is partnering with Race for Life after new research found that the majority of UK adults who listen to music find it motivates them when exercise (92 percent), and that music makes them feel like they have a boost of energy when they do it (91 percent).
So, the playlist aims to inspire people to sign up for a local Race for Life event and provide some extra motivation for those who may be training for a Race for Life near them this year, with the message that every step taken helps fund life-saving cancer research.
