The Tower of London moat may have once kept enemies out, but after 20 million seeds were planted back in the spring, it transformed into a wildflower oasis. And we can’t think of many places in London so captivatingly photographable. Fully aware of how great sunset lighting is for pictures, Superbloom is now extending their opening hours for evening snappers. And everyone else. You don’t need to be a photographer to enjoy it!
That’s right, you can now stroll among the Superbloom as the sun sets, bathing it all in a golden hue. Through July and August, from Thursday to Saturday, Superbloom will be open until 10:30pm. There’s even special coloured lighting backdropping the whole affair during those extended hours. You won’t be able to resist taking a snap, or thirty.
Unveiled to celebrate Queen Elizbeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, the Tower Of London’s Superbloom project transformed the moat into a garden that changes as the months go by and different blooms rear their head. The flowers were specifically chosen to attract pollinators and create a biodiverse habitat for wildlife. Statues throughout, and a special soundscape, combine to round out the whole experience. Oh, yeah, and you can literally take a slide down into it.
Not only is it easy on the eyes (just remember those hay fever tablets!), with plenty of food vendors nearby it provides a whole evening’s entertainment. For an extra special experience, once you’ve climbed out of the Tower of London moat you can dine in style at The Glass Rooms. Or for a more impromptu decision, grab some delicious food from the KERB Street Food Market on the Wharf and at Tower Gardens.
