This moisture meter features calibration settings for seven types of wood, including pine, birch, teak, and cedar. It also has a broad range of moisture detection, from 6 to 60 percent for wood, and from 0 to 40 percent for masonry and drywall. And since it comes equipped with a temperature sensor, you can make corrections to readings as needed. Its accuracy rating of +/-0.1 percent matches the best we found.
All of the readings are displayed on a large, backlit LED screen that shows the results in numerals and on a meter. The meter comes with a guide to all kinds of different woods, which could be extremely handy, but the names of the species are displayed in and organized by Latin name. For most, this limits the guide’s utility.
