Vauxhall Corsa car review

Looks

The new Vauxhall Corsa isn’t as stylish as some of its rivals because it’s a heavily revamped version of the old model. The threedoor car looks sportier than the fivedoor, which has more of a family feel to it. Inside you’ll find a comfortable interior which has a premium feel thanks to the use of good quality materials and an intuitive infotainment touch screen system.

Practicality

The Corsa has always been spacious and the new one is no different. It has a good sized boot and lots of useful cubby spaces around the cabin, although the glove box is unusually small. The rear doors on fivedoor models open wide, making it easy to get passengers and child seats inside.

Driving

Comfort is the key here – the Corsa feels comfortable over bumps, with light steering and a smooth gearbox making it easy to drive and park. The new 1.0litre engines offer plenty of power around town, but are also quiet and frugal.

Safety

Six airbags are standard and you can opt for the latest safety technology, including reversing cameras, blind spot warning systems and an alter that tells you stray out of your lane on the motorway.

Running costs

The new Corsa costs less to buy than the old one and it will cost less to run. You’ll get good fuel economy and low road tax bills, especially from the brilliant new 1.0litre engines which offer up to 57 mpg. Insurance costs are also low, it’s no surprise the Corsa is a favourite with learner drivers. The reliability record is consistent, with plenty of Vauxhall dealers around if things do go wrong.

GH Verdict

The Corsa makes a great first car, it may not be as stylish as a Fiesta, but we think it’s more spacious and comfortable. The Corsa Design 1.0litre Turbo model has the best balance of equipment, performance and economy.
