Amazon shoppers are snapping up a cooling fan hailed as ‘worth the money’ that offers air conditioning for a fraction of the price. The Pelonis 5L Air Cooler has been reduced to £100.69 in a limited-time deal, almost 25% off its usual £129.99 price tag.

The device is also the best-selling product in Amazon’s Evaporative Coolers category. The versatile Pelonis serves as a portable air cooler, a tower fan and humidifier that comes with two ice packs to ensure you can stay cool on the summer’s hottest days.

It combines a cooling honeycomb waterfall filter with a powerful air circulating motor that passes air over ice cold water to keep any room cool with a choice of three fan speeds and a 60° wide oscillation. It’s also quiet so you can stay cool throughout the night without being disturbed and stay in control with its seven-hour timer.

The Pelonis boasts a 5L water tank which allows it to last for up to 10 hours and has a built-in handle so it’s portable enough to be easily refilled and carried throughout the house to beat the heat. It’s also easy to clean thanks to its removable filter.

The Pelonis Air Cooler has earned 4.3 stars out of five after 264 ratings on Amazon. Customers have said the ‘powerful’ gadget is ‘worth the money’ and a ‘lifesaver’.

Remote control pointed towards a Pelonis Air Cooler

One buyer said: “The three different settings of fan speed are awesome, having it on the lowest setting is plenty enough until the scorching hot days come. Really impressed with the design and how easy it is to use. The fan settings alone are cool enough to try it on a hot day, but I reckon closing your windows (and) getting the ice pack in as well will feel like winter in the room. Definitely recommend this product, even for office use this would be amazing.”

Another said: “For a while I’ve been looking for a relatively cheap air con unit but couldn’t justify the costs. So when my tower fan stopped working I came across this amazing find as a replacement. To manage expectations, it’s not an air con unit but it certainly cools air, much better than any regular fan. So far we’ve just used the air cooler (without using ice blocks provided) and it’s really powerful – not any louder than a usual fan and has definitely made a difference. It’s a little bigger than I imagined but well built and quite stylish so doesn’t look out of place. I’m pleased with my purchase and would recommend this product if on a budget and want an upgrade from your regular tower fan model.”

A third added: “Lifesaver. Pictures don’t do this justice. I originally bought an expensive aircon unit for my daughter’s room in the summer. It was way too noisy and although it worked, she couldn’t sleep with it so defeated the purpose. I then researched this product. It’s a good sized unit – a lot quieter and you fill it with water and supplied ice packs this fan dropped (the) room temperature three degrees within an hour and got us through the warmer days for naps etc. I was concerned that it may cause condensation and develop mould but this didn’t happen. I was also worried about electricity and water, but it appears well built to prevent that.”

However, one less satisfied customer said: “Filling the container can be a bit fiddly as you have to put the ice blocks in afterward. The ice blocks don’t seem to really fit anywhere, you have to just bung them in, they seem like an afterthought on the design, they also float, they should have slotted in somewhere. I ended up buying a load of smaller ones to bung in there too. There should have been at least four blocks provided so you could use two and freeze two, ideally six would have been better.”

Amazon shoppers can pick up additional ice packs for £3.90, which includes a pack of three mini ice blocks.

The Pelonis 5L Air Cooler is available for £100.69 at Amazon.

Alternatively, Shark has knocked £50 off the FlexBreeze Portable Fan at £149.99, down from £199.99. The 12-in-1 device can be used indoors or outdoors and can run for up to 24 hours, offering five cooling fan speeds and 180° oscillation.
