For those on the hunt for the ultimate comfy shoes, it’s wise to seek advice from professionals who are constantly on their feet. Nurses, for instance, are a prime source of knowledge, which is why the NursingUK subreddit has become an invaluable resource.

One thread in particular has garnered attention, asking nurses: ‘What shoes do you wear?’ A curious Redditor posed the question, elaborating: “So I’m starting in a new hospital next week, for the last 5 years I’ve been using the clogs/Crocs etc and I see a lot of nurses using sneakers like Nikes and Adidas etc, which for me was always a no. But now I’m looking for something comfy the only requirement is to be black!”

Highlighting a popular choice, one of the top comments in the thread recommends a specific brand: “I wear Skechers! Fully black and made of a material that doesn’t absorb liquids if any spill on them. Very comfortable and was £42 but well worth the price,” a Redditor shared with enthusiasm. Echoing this sentiment, another added: “Yes, Skechers is the only answer. Built for the job. 12 hour shifts with manual lifting of patients and never any issues,” reports Wales Online.

The shoe in question could very well be the Skechers Women’s Graceful Get Connected Sneaker. While they usually retail at £62 on Amazon, savvy shoppers can find them for a steal between £39.99 and £44, size-dependent. These are so popular they have also sold out at Debenhams. Although available in various hues, the all-black version is likely the go-to choice for many nurses.

These stylish trainers are not just a hit with nurses; they’ve garnered an impressive 53,119 ratings on Amazon, boasting an average of 4.6 stars out of 5. “This is my fourth pair of these Get Connected trainers, and let me tell you, they are absolutely flawless! They fit like a dream, offer fantastic value, come in amazing colours, and make you feel like you’re walking on clouds! ” exclaimed one thrilled customer.

“Great price, extremely comfy – they look great and I’m very happy with my purchase,” another buyer commented. The theme of comfort was echoed by more reviews, with one stating: “These trainers are great for everyday activities. The comfort level of these sneakers is excellent and the memory foam insoles provide fantastic support, making them ideal for long walks or when having to spending hours on my feet all day. They are also very light.”

However, not everyone was completely satisfied. “Very comfortable but feet get soaked at the first drop of rain,” cautioned one user, a drawback that might be expected with lightweight trainers, though their machine-washable feature is a plus. “I have a wide foot, ordered size 5 standard but they were too narrow,” noted another customer, pointing out a potential sizing issue.

You can pick up the shoes on Amazon or direct through Skechers for £60.

For those with wide feet, you might want to consider trainers specifically designed for this – such as the Adidas RunFalcon 5 Wide Running Shoes, priced at £50. Alternatively, if the look of the Skechers shoes didn’t appeal to you, the nursing subreddit also suggests Under Armour trainers – possibly referring to the Women’s UA Rogue 4 Running Shoes, which are slightly more expensive at £75.
