A Marvel’s Rivals the developer teased what the game has in store for future playable character releases after Season 1’s Fantastic Four debut.

Like many modern games, Marvel’s Rivals is the name of the live service, which means that content additions will continue much after launch. That means the 33-hero superhero shooter is just the beginning.

When will Marvel Rivals release more DLC heroes?

Marvel’s Rivals

In an interview with Metro Marvel’s Rivals Game director Guangyun Chen was asked how soon fans can expect the new heroes to enter the arena.

The first two new heroes, Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman, arrived with the release of Season 1 on January 10th, just a month after the game’s release in December. Next Marvel’s Rivals rounding out its Fantastic Four with the arrival of the Human Torch and the Thing midway through the season.

Chen explained each new season includes “fresh seasonal stories, new maps and new heroes,” lasts three months and is divided into two parts:

“Every season we release new seasonal stories, new maps and new heroes. In fact, we divide each season into two halves. One season is three months long.”

The game director added this “every half season” a new hero arrives Marvel’s Rivals to expand the playlist:

“And for each half of the season we introduce a new hero. We just want to ultimately improve the experience and keep everyone excited in our community.”

Since the seasons last around three months and are split in half, fans can expect to see a new hero Marvel’s Rivals list every month and a half.

While the Human Torch and The Thing currently have no release date, based on this timeframe, they should be arriving in Galacta’s arena with the mid-season update in late February.

In addition to this, season 2 is expected to begin Marvel’s Rivals at some point in April, once again bringing new playable heroes.

What characters are coming to Marvel Rivals?

With Marvel’s RivalsIn the first season, fans caught up with two new heroes at launch, and will soon see two more midway through the season to complete the Fantastic Four. But as Guangyun Chen pointed out “new hero” (specifically a one-off) comes every half season, this could be a one-time drop of Marvel’s First Family in one season.

In season 2 and beyond, players should probably only expect two new heroes per season, otherwise the list might grow too large.

As for the next playable character released after Fantastic Four, NetEase Games seems to be teasing Blade as the launch hero for Season 2. Based on a rough estimate of a new character arriving roughly every month and a half, fans should expect the hack-and-slash vampire slayer to be playable in April.

What comes after that is hard to say, but Ultron was among the first Marvel’s Rivals Heroes was leaked and was supposedly planned for Season 1. The launch of the Avengers villain as a strategic character has supposedly been pushed back to Season 2, and his debut could be around May if he drops mid-season.
