It may still be October, but for the sake of journalism, I’ve opened this year’s PrettyLittleThing advent calendar early to help you decide if it’s worth your hard-earned cash. With an overwhelming array of beauty calendars on offer from various brands, our shopping and beauty team at are here to share our thoughts on most of the 2024 beauty advent calendars.

Each calendar boasts different products behind each door, and the price tags vary significantly, with some reaching into the hundreds. This year’s PLT advent calendar is priced at £55, making it one of the more budget-friendly options.

But don’t be fooled by the lower price tag – it’s still full of some fantastic products from well-known brands. The contents are valued at £195, offering you a lovely saving of £140.

Upon unwrapping my PLT calendar, I was immediately struck by the sheer size of the stylish black and pink box that will add a touch of glamour to my bedroom. After admiring the packaging, it was time to delve in – stop reading now if you’d rather keep the contents a surprise.

PLT's advent calendar open showing 24 boxes inside

I decided to open the calendar in numerical order, but I’ve shuffled them around for a bit of surprise as to which product lies behind each number if you choose to buy it. I was thrilled to discover that many of the 24 products inside the calendar are ones I’ve heard of but never used before, so I’m really looking forward to trying them out.

This includes the original West Barn Co Soap Brows with Bamboo Spoolie (RRP £15) which I’m curious to see how it will transform my dark and currently quite bushy eyebrows. Another item I’ve been keen to try that’s included in the calendar is the St Tropez Bronzing Water Serum with vitamins C and D (RRP £25), which will be ideal for applying on my pale face during the winter months. Considering these two products alone would set me back £40, I genuinely think the PLT advent calendar offers great value for money.

One of the items in the calendar stirred up unexpected nostalgia – the Peaches and Cream Lip Liner (RRP £3.95) in the shade Hotline. I had my makeup done at Peaches and Cream in Liverpool back in 2015 for my high school prom, so I was overjoyed to find that PLT has included the brand in this year’s calendar.

Some of the items in the calendar, like the fluffy headband, tweezers and eyelash curlers, are similar to ones I already own. This isn’t a problem, though, as it means I have backups for when my current ones wear out or get dirty. If I wanted, I could even use some of the items as stocking fillers for family and friends, saving myself even more cash.

The PLT advent calendar left me impressed with its fantastic range of products and value. The only downside is that it included two sets of stunning false eyelashes, but no glue. I’ve only ever worn lashes when getting my makeup done professionally, so I don’t have any lash glue, meaning I’ll need to buy this separately to wear the lashes.

You can purchase PrettyLittleThing’s 2024 Beauty Advent Calendar for £55 here. Want to browse more calendars? Soap and Glory’s 24 Moments On Cloud All-Mine Advent Calendar costs £48 at Boots, while the ASOS Face + Body 25 Day Advent Calendar is priced at £95.
