Tom Holland returns to the West End in a new production of the Shakespeare classic Romeo and Juliet. The 27-year-old actor, from Kingston, is best known for playing Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, in the Marvel franchise, and is known to be dating co-star Zendaya.
Tom is bringing his acting talents to the Duke of York Theater for a three-month run of Romeo and Juliet, where he will be playing Romeo. Tickets go on general sale on Tuesday, February 13 at noon.
The play, produced by the adventurous Jamie Lloyd Company, will run from Saturday 11 May to Saturday 3 August, with the Juliet cast yet to be announced. Director Jamie Lloyd said in a statement: “Tom Holland is one of the biggest, most exciting young actors in the world. It’s an honor to welcome him back to the West End.”
Tom previously began his acting career in Billy Elliot: The Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre. After several other roles, he got his Marvel contract and has been Spider-Man ever since.
He now returns to the West End, having not been on stage since Billy Elliot ran as a child. He will only play Romeo for 12 weeks, having previously teased the news to fans.
Tom took a break from acting after his grueling role in The Crowded Room. He teased the Romeo and Juliet news by sharing a photo of himself playing golf.
Tickets for Romeo and Juliet go on sale Tuesday, February 13 at 12.00. There is also a priority sale for ATG+ members, and you can sign up for priority slots via the play’s website.
