Summer rooftop season is fully underway in London, and we couldn’t be happier about it. Who wouldn’t be a fan of gazing out over the London skyline on a toasty evening, after all?
Now, in a sudden turn of events, one of London’s most historic sites has decided it wishes to get in on the act to celebrate the summer of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Westminster Abbey has opened its roof up to visitors in the sunny season for the first time ever at the 753-year-old building. There may not be any drinks on offer but when the setting is as old and legendary as that, you should have enough of a buzz to keep you going for the 60-minute tour.
It will, however, cost a pretty penny, with tickets to catch the view set at £70. Despite this, the “Roam The Roof” tour has been in the highest of demand, with every slot filled within hours of going on sale.
Westminster Abbey’s roof is currently opening two days a month between June and August, with three hour-long slots on each day. Though tickets may be all gone now, we’ll keep an eye out for news on any more being released.
Those who opt to take in the view from this historic site will need to be over the age of 18 and ready to climb a hefty staircase. Once you’re up there, it’s 60 minutes of checking out the London skyline – just don’t sign up if you’ve got a fear of heights.
