Pack your marmalade sandwiches (or stick them under your rumpled red hat in case of emergency) and scrub up on your manners, Paddington Marmalade Messiness: The Immersive Adventure is heading to Edinburgh. Set to unfold in the idyllic wilds of Dalkeith Country Park from July 1. This exciting escapade is perfect for families who have been hunting for something fun to do in the great outdoors over the summer holidays. You’ll be tasked with tracking down the charmingly polite – though hopelessly clumsy – bear while encountering all sorts of storytelling, theatre, puppetry and more along the way.

In true Paddington fashion the loveable bear has got himself into another scrape, but this time he has clambered out the well-thumbed pages of his beloved books and into reality – so now you and the family can help save the day. It seems that Mrs Bird invited Paddington and his crumb-loving friend Pigeonton to Dalkeith Palace for a tour of the palace kitchens, but things went a tad haywire and Paddington has gone missing on the palace grounds. Fix your coat toggles and put yourself in the marmalade-flecked wellie boots of the charming Peruvian bear as you scour the green expanse to find him.

Over the course of 50 minutes, all you self-appointed bear-finding detectives for the day will get to enjoy the wild delights of nature and a host of fun activities to get stuck into. You’ll be caught up in the classic Paddington chaos with immersive storytelling, fantastic theatre and puppetry bringing much-loved stories and characters to life. Plus, there’s a designated Activity Area where kids can take a relaxing detour from the adventure with some colouring-in, dot to dot and competitions.

There’ll be no need to stow away on a ship’s lifeboat to get to the venue of this immersive adventure; with Dalkeith Country Park found on the outskirts of Edinburgh you can hop on a quick plane or slightly longer train from London, or even choose to make a road trip of it to really add to the adventure. Besides, do you even need an incentive to explore Scotland’s gorgeous nature and history? It may not be the deepest, darkest jungles of Peru, but the stunning park with its thick woodland, winding paths and lively wildlife promises a picturesque day out for all the family to enjoy. Throw in an adventure with a dash of theatrical delights and you’ve got an unforgettable experience that will be one for the memory books.

You’ll also be able to take home a memento with you from the gift shop, which is positively brimming with gifts and goodies (much like Mr Gruber’s curiosity-filled antique shop). Paddington Marmalade Messiness is a magical experience for all ages that gives you a chance to step inside a story; grab your tickets now to make sure you don’t miss out.
