Open fire cooking is coming to Golborne Road as Caia (appropriately named after the Roman goddess of fire) is opening there this March. Founded by locals Rishabh Vir and Tim Lang, the neighbourhood spot will serve up a menu of seasonal dishes using locally sourced ingredients cooked on the open grill, complemented by a range of ferments, vinegars and preserves. Talking of the grill, there’ll be ten seats directly overlooking it where you can watch the chefs at work, with banquette seating stretching back through the space, ending with a floor-to-ceiling wine display in the rear room. The wine offering, curated by wine expert Beth Brickenden, will feature an Old World bottle from familiar and new producers, with digestivo and aperitivo cocktails rounding out the drinks list.
If you’re after some music, Caia can sort that for you too, with a top sound system and vinyl collection curated by Stranger Than Paradise Records founder Noreen McShane down in the basement. Co-founder Tim will also be putting together a monthly events programme including guest DJs, artist Q&As, acoustic sessions and listening parties, so there’ll be plenty to get stuck into after your dinner and drinks.
