Amazon has knocked more than £200 off a Google smartwatch in a mega new tech deal. The Google Pixel Watch 2 is currently on offer at £129, a whopping £210 discount from the usual £339.

The deal makes Amazon the cheapest place to buy compared to retailers including Currys, Argos and Google, which offer it for £239. The smartwatch features a circular, domed design with scratch-resistant 1.2” AMOLED and Gorilla Glass display.

Powered by Google’s Wear OS, it is ideal for fitness fanatics as it boasts a range of trackers with Fitbit fitness tracking, including steps, calories burned, sleep and heart rate and rhythm. The gadget is also water resistant up to 50 metres so you can track your outdoor exercise come rain or shine.

The Pixel Watch 2 allows users to make calls, respond to messages and manage your email inbox directly from the screen, with hands-free control from Google Assistant. It can also be used to make contactless payments with Google Wallet, get step-by-step directions with Maps and control compatible Nest devices.

The innovative device can even alert trusted contacts or 999 if you’re feeling unsafe with Emergency SOS. The watch can run for up to 24 hours on a single charge and includes USB-C fast charging cable, which can provide a 50 percent charge after 30 minutes.

Wearers can customise the watch face with a range of colours and layouts with the option to choose between countless digital, analogue and modern, graphic looks. The Google Pixel Watch 2 has racked up more than 750 four and five-star reviews from Amazon customers.

One impressed shopper said of the watch: “I didn’t know how much I needed this. I was in two minds whether to buy this watch, wondering if I really needed it. I’m so glad I did. I never miss a call or a message as my watch notifies me as soon I’m contacted. It’s also great for setting reminders and timers. I’m hardly using my phone now and it certainly means I don’t have to wear clothes with pockets to put my phone in. It’s a bonus that it has Fitbit as it does make me look at my steps when otherwise I probably wouldn’t have bothered. Great watch.”

Another said: “Perfect watch for Pixel. I recently moved to a Pixel phone after years of Apple products. Was very impressed with the phone and decided I needed a watch to go with it. The Pixel watch is brilliant, does everything you need it to without any gimmicks. Lightweight, responsive display with excellent viewing angles. Notifications work flawlessly connected to my Pixel phone and the choice of watch faces and customisation makes my previous Apple watch seem very average in comparison.”

A third happy customer added: “I love this watch. I’d always worn Fitbits but wanted something that would do a bit more so I bought a Samsung Galaxy watch. I hated it and never got on with it at all. I’ve always had Google phones and earbuds so thought I’d buy this because it uses Fitbit but has all the other features I wanted. I love everything about it. It’s the best fitness watch I’ve ever had and it works perfectly with my phone.”

However, the same review pointed out that the watch needs charging ‘daily’ writing: “The only slight downside is the battery isn’t great and it does need to go on charge daily whereas my older Fitbit would last a few days.”

Shoppers should also note the Pixel Watch 2 works with most smartphones running on Android 9.0 or later. Elsewhere, Samsung is offering a £30 discount on the new Galaxy Watch7 at £259, as well as up to £150 off when trading in an old device.

Currys has also slashed the price of a range of Fitbits, including £30 off the Versa 4 Smart Watch at £149.
