Aldi reveals 8 London areas where new store could open soon including Croydon and Barnet

Aldi has its eye on eight London locations where it may open a store. It comes after May saw the supermarket asking shoppers nationwide where they want to see a new store.

There are currently over 1,020 stores across the UK, with hopes of hitting over 1,500. But Aldi wants to expand to places it thinks needs one, which includes more than 100 within the M25.

Each Aldi site should be able to house a 20,000-square-foot store with about 100 parking spots. However, stores within the M25 should be more like 5,000 square feet in size.

Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, said: “We want to make high-quality food accessible to all, but we can’t do that while there are still some towns and areas that either don’t have an Aldi or have capacity for additional stores.

“We recognise there is huge demand in certain regions for more stores, which is why we decided to get the public’s input on our latest list of priority locations. They have helped us identify where demand is greatest and we will continue to work to bring Aldi to as many people as possible.”
