Married at first sight season 17 has just finished and it’s time to see what Clare Kerr has been up to since the cameras stopped rolling. Married at first sight experts Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Rev. Cal Roberson and Dr. Pia Holec paired Clare with New Zealand native Cameron Frazer. Season 17 was arguably the worst and most unsuccessful season of the hit Lifetime show to date. There were firsts in the franchise series. Denver hopeful Michael Shiakallis encountered the original mystery bride, who ended up meeting him at the altar only to be told she couldn’t marry a stranger and bailed out of the experience.
Then the experts gave Michael a chance to enter Married at first sight again, and he accepted. He married Chloe Brown and the couple started experimenting when other couples were already halfway through. Chloe said yes to Michael on the day of the decision, but Michael said no. Actually, all five couples in season 17 chose divorce. Lauren Goodger and Orion Martzloff broke up right after their honeymoon, while Cameron and Clare came next. Austin Reed and Becca Haley said yes on the closing day, but broke up the next day. Emily Balch and Brennan Shoykhet broke up shortly before the closing date.

They started high
27-year-old Clare, who is in her third year, wanted to find a “Silly” a person who also knew how to be a mature and independent partner. The therapist was compared to 33-year-old Cameron, who owns a bike shop and who experts believed had ticked all of Clare’s boxes. And it seemed like they were very much into each other on their wedding day. They had chemistry and seemed like they were drawn to each other (via Lifespan.) However, the disconnection began on their wedding night.
Cameron and Clare had their first fight on the way to their honeymoon when Clare got mad that Cameron didn’t help her with the bags and ran away. There, they no longer found the original spark, and Clare struggled to show affection.
More trouble came when they moved back together to Denver and had an insurmountable problem. Clare wanted to raise her children in church and religion, while Cameron was strongly against it. In addition, Cameron became attached to Clare, but Clare was icy and did not return the feeling.
They decided together, without the help of experts, to separate on the one-month anniversary. Shortly after the breakup, Cameron was diagnosed with a serious heart problem and underwent surgery. Clare wanted to be there for Cameron, but Cameron wanted to be far away and not have anything to do with Clare. They both showed up for the closing day, where they painted a friendly picture but surprisingly said no to each other. Then during Married at first sight the season 17 group gathered the next day, the truth was revealed.

In a group meeting after the closing day, the ladies of Season 17 spoke out against the men and the injustices they felt belittled. That’s when Clare accused Cameron of trying to silence her. Cameron stormed off and spilled tea on the camera and he called Clare a “puppet master.”

Things got even uglier at the reunion when Cameron accused Clare of sleeping with the boyfriend she had been in love with throughout the experience. He also questioned Clare’s motives for suffering from her heart problems, suggesting that she wanted to appear to be a good person. All of the couples, except for Michael and Chloe, agreed to try to control their narratives and not let the truth about their relationships come out. They wanted to control optics in a highly controversial move which hindered the whole season and everyone’s experience of it. It was allegedly Cameron’s idea, and the whole experience created an overwhelming animosity between the men and women of season 17.

Men thought women were just bitter and couldn’t get over the fact that things didn’t work out.
Cameron came to Clare during the Reunion. But in a surprising twist during their meeting Cameron ended things with Clare by saying that he would be open to trying a romantic relationship again. Clare was indifferent and it was hard to tell if Cameron was just saying that to make himself look better. With so much bad blood and a murky reality, it’s unlikely that Clare and Cameron will ever get to a good place.

Clare apparently found lifelong friends in Emily, Becca and Lauren. The timeline of Clare’s relationship with her boyfriend is unclear, but she was upset in the episode. Clare said her relationship with her mystery boyfriend was long distance and that he lived in Seattle. He wasn’t sure if he would move there. Cameron doesn’t have any social media, so it’s unknown if Cameron and Clare even follow each other at this point.
