Fans have flocked to a London pub after it was mentioned in a Taylor Swift song. The Black Dog, in Vauxhall, was named after the singer’s 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.
And following its release last Friday, April 19, fans have flocked to the establishment with many buying pint glasses as souvenirs. The staff has also received many requests” from Swifties looking to purchase merchandise.
Amy Cowley, marketing consultant for the pub, told Sky News: “We’re really excited to ride this wave, it’s been surreal. We’ve had thousands of requests from Taylor Swift fans for merchandise, so we’re creating a dedicated email address for people to contact us at.
“People just want things to show they’ve been to the pub, or to have something associated with The Black Dog. But the weekend was very busy.
“We had to turn people away because so many wanted to come in. We needed extra security to deal with it all.
The pub said security has been increased and it expects more fans to turn up in June and August, when the American star will perform at Wembley Stadium as part of her Eras Tour. The staff also encouraged the American singer to visit the pub and have a drink.
Amy added: “Taylor Swift has nine nights at Wembley in the summer so we’re gearing up for that already. It would be great if she came down to the pub and had a drink with us. We’d love to do something fun with her. ”
The venue is now exploring ways to create merchandise to showcase its new connections to Swift. It is also exploring the possibility of launching a beer dedicated to the global icon.
The Black Dog is located at 112 Vauxhall Walk, London SE11 5ER
