Travelodge has completed the new hotel agreements in Douglas, which means the company’s first location on the Island of Mansa.

Travelodge has signed a 30-year lease with a local developer Tevil Group. Whitestone Retail & Leisure represents Travelodge for finishing trade.

The design permit has been approved for building an independent new construction trip in 80 rooms and a locally located restaurant, 85 bar. The project is part of the mixed use, which also includes two new Class A-office buildings.

The site is located in New Villiers Square, just 60 meters from the seaside, a four -minute walk from the ferry terminal and a two -minute walk from Strand Street’s capital. It is also an easy walk from Douglas’s most important attractions, including the Manx Museum, Gaiety Theater and Douglas Harbor.

The new Travelodge Hotel will participate in the ‘Visit Isle of Man’ initiative aimed at creating 500 new, modern hotel rooms by 2032. It also provides 27 new jobs for the local community.

A detailed planning permit has been granted and the construction is expected to begin at the beginning of 2025, when the hotel is expected to be completed and handed over in 2026.

Tony O’Brien, the UK Development Director, Travelodge said: “This new Travelodge Douglas is a great addition to our hotel portfolio, and we could not be happy to open the first hotel on the human island. We have been looking for a suitable opportunity to open a new Travelodge here for many years, and the Villiers Square is the perfect site for a new, modern hotel that offers great value and quality accommodation for the island’s free time and business guests.

“We are excited about building the start of the New Year and we want to thank the Whitestone Retail & Leisure and Baker Hollingworth development team for their hard work to secure and submit this fantastic new project.”

Ciaran Doherty, CEO of Tevir Group, said: “We are delighted to confirm Travelodge as the original tenant in this landmark project, which plays an important role in improving Douglas’s hospitality.

“Villiers Square is a prominent development in the center, and a well-recognized, reliable brand, such as Travelodge, makes it more attractive for companies on the island of business and for leisure passengers.

“This collaboration is in line with the Villiers Square view as a dynamic mixed use space in the heart of Douglas. We are proud to be able to participate in the island’s tourism and hospitality goals and we look forward to the start of construction in early 2025 and we want to thank our design team and Travelodge team for their hard work to bring the project to this exciting point. “

Travelodge continues to investigate significant growth opportunities in the United Kingdom and has identified more than 300 potential locations after a thorough analysis of market openings.
