Dust off your your faux leather jackets and squeeze yourself back in to your skinniest pair of Joni jeans, folks – because the time has finally come. Topshop is making the comeback of the century, and is setting up shop inside one of London’s most iconic department stores next week.
Unfortunately, the beloved brand won’t be reclaiming its former flagship site on Oxford Street. Primarily because that legendary London landmark is now occupied by a shiny new IKEA store. It will, instead, be opening its doors mere moments away, inside Liberty London.
Topshop’s Liberty residency launches on August 28and will feature a curated edit of the kind of items that we Millennials would save up every last penny to get our hands on from Topshop many moons ago. We’re talking denim, tailoring, statement pieces, and a big old dollop of nostalgia on the side.
The comeback marks the first time Londoners will be able to physically browse Topshop’s rails in five years, having closed its doors back in 2020, following the collapse of the Arcadia Group. And the Liberty residency will be the brand’s first bricks-and-mortar store since then, after years of only being available on ASOS.
The reopening of Topshop (and Topman) follows the relaunching of its website, and the runway show that was held in Trafalgar Square last week (fronted by none other than Cara Delevingne). The Liberty residency will be the first in-person boutique from the brand, but there are supposedly some stand-alone stores in the pipeline.
Topshop and Topman will be opening inside Liberty London on Thursday, August 28. Mark it in the calendars, folks.
