Kyaikhtiyo pagoda, commonly known as Golden stoneis a holy Buddhist shrine in Burma. A significant pilgrimage area for Burmese Buddhists is a large boulder on the edge of a cliff with a pagoda on top that anchors a hair in Buddha.

The massive Golden stone In the highlands north of Yangon, which dangles over a steep case, is an incredible sight. The gold -colored mountain is actually a granite block that has been coated with gold leaves by Buddhist enthusiasts.

The stone is 712 meters long and is topped with a golden pagoda known as Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda or Kyaik Hti Yo Pagoda, which contains Buddha’s hair rich.

According to Legend, when Buddha visited the region, he gave a hair -related to an individual. The hermit went to the king and asked for the relic to be anchored on a boulder shaped like the hermit’s head.

The king, who had magical abilities, discovered a suitable stone on the seabed and carried it to Kyaikto, where it was put in its present location.

It is believed that Buddha’s hair, which is held in the pagoda on top of the mountain, prevents Golden Rock from collapsing.

The tradition can be that the boat used to deliver the boulders turned into stone. Kyaucthanban Pagoda is located on top of a large stone near the Golden Rock similar to the shape of a boat.
