Self -help books do not seem to be effective. Few of the many benefits of modern life seem to be able to raise our collective mood. Even if you can get it, wealth does not always lead to happiness. Romance, family life and career can all cause as much stress as they delight. You can’t even agree on the definition of “happy”. So do you strive for a fruitless goal? Or do you simply make it wrong?

Oliver Burkeman introduces us to a unique group of people who share a singular, strange way of thinking about life in reports from the past and from far abroad and looking both east and west. They claim if they are experimental psychologists, terrorism specialists, Buddhists, hard -to -do business strategists, Greek philosophers or today’s gurus, as in our personal lives and in society as a whole, it is our uninterrupted quest to be happy that makes us unhappy. And that there is an alternative way to happiness and success that requires embrace of failure, pessimism, uncertainty and uncertainty, which we spend our lives to avoid. The antidote is the educated person’s guide to understand the very misunderstood concept of happiness. It is thought -provoking, opposite and finally uplifting.

This is a self -help Book written for those who despise self -help books. Not everyone is linked to responding positively to the promise of happiness. The movie ‘Antidote“Takes a more existential attitude. This book examines how it can be uplifting to accept some negative feelings and experiences as part of life. Many people discover that certain parts of life, such as money, romance and family, do not satisfy them.
