The roof is made to endure Shirakawago’s difficult winters and heavy snowfall. Shirakawago Village is very beautiful in the fall, so come here if you want to see everything. The lake’s surface is blue in the shade of red foliage, the old houses are clearly visible, and the road is covered by fallen leaves when there is no snow. The houses are still in good condition even though the village was founded about 300 years ago. Shirakawago Village currently contains about 100 homes. More than 20 historic wooden houses have been carefully preserved and maintained how things were before.
