Canadian College Italy, or CCIis an independent Canadian accredited school in Lanciano, Abruzzo, Italy. This school is for students in grades 9 to 12 and prepares them for university. It follows the rules of the Ontario Ministry of Education, which is the education department of the Canadian province of Ontario, for Overseas Schools. CCI helps students prepare for universities in the US, UK, Canada and Europe.
Founded by Marisa DiCarlo D’Alessandro in 1995, CCI is Canada’s only private high school in Italy. It is a boarding school for Canadian, American and international students who want to study abroad. The school’s mission is to provide a unique environment where students experience growth academically, socially and culturally.
The elementary school building is a 14th-century palace in three floors in stone and brick on Via Cavour. It was a family home in the 14th century and later served as the Canadian headquarters for troops during the Second World War. CCI Boys live on the top floor of the school building on Via Cavour, while the girls live in the city’s oldest inn, the Antica Locanda Allegria.
The Ministry of Education of Ontario, Canada inspects the school and students are awarded points for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. CCI is also a member of the European Council of International Schools. At CCI, students follow a challenging university preparatory academic curriculum. They learn subjects such as mathematics, classical civilization, chemistry, physics, biology, social science, English, art and drama. All courses are taught in English, except for international languages. Lanciano’s over 3,300-year history provides a rich background for the student housing and main school building, making it a unique and historic learning environment.
