Two different characters Forge (Cynthia and Elizabeth) look just like actress Priscilla Shirer, making viewers question whether she really has a twin sister like in the movie.
After premiering in theaters on August 23, 2024, Forge was added to Netflix’s streaming library on December 21st. At the time of writing, it is in the top 10 Netflix movies on the platform.
A film directed by the Kendrick brothersIn front of the giants, Fire resistant, Brave), is set in the same continuity as War roomanother faith-based film with some of the same characters Forge.
It’s not the only big Christian movie coming out in late 2024 Elect creator Dallas Jenkins released his own Christmas movie, The best Christmas pageant ever in November.
Does Priscilla Shirer have a twin sister?
in Forgeone of the main characters is Cynthia Wright, Isaiah’s mother. She is played by Priscilla Shirer.
However, Shirer’s character has a twin sister named Elizabeth Jordan in the film. They are identical twins, which means they look alike.
Cynthia has a twin sister Forge generated some interest among viewers, with many wondering if Shirer herself had a twin sister, and if Shirer or her sister played Cynthia’s double.
Shirer has a sister named Chrystal Evans Hurst, who is a best seller, but she is not Shirer’s twin sister.
in ForgeShirer plays both Cynthia and Elizabeth, meaning she plays her own twin and shares the screen with herself in some scenes, using a bit of movie magic.
For example, one of the most prominent scenes in the film is when Elizabeth comes to visit Cynthia at her hair salon. While there, they talk about Isaiah and then pray for him together.
In this scene, even though it looks like there are two real twins in the picture, Shirer plays both roles.
In an interview with 96five, Shirer revealed how they brought the scene to life, explaining that someone special to him was used as a stand-in so he could act properly instead of speaking against a real person:
“Actually, my brother’s wife, so my sister-in-law, who’s one of my closest friends, we’re actually very similar in size, so they brought her in for a week on set and whenever I was in a scene with my twin, the twin sister’s butt is her.”
Shirer went on to explain how they made the final cut look the same, revealing that the magic of filmmaking made everything look flawless in the final cut:
“So we just had to shoot everyone in opposite directions and then using the wonders of AI they were able to put my face on her body when we’re on the screens together.”
In a separate interview, this one with Vision Christian Media, Shirer talked more about bringing Elizabeth along Forge after the character was established in 2015 War room:
“Well, that’s one of the surprises of the movie that we hope people will love because Elizabeth, in the movie ‘War Room,’ the main thing she and her husband were arguing about were the phone calls with her sister. , her sister kept asking her for money to borrow money because her husband was not an actual provider and protector.”
Shirer revealed how the Kendrick brothers came up with the idea of making Elizabeth Cynthia’s twin sister, saying it was more “What if” a moment in the writing process:
So, you’ll hear about this random sister in “War Room” if you pay attention. It’s not an important story, but it’s there. So, when they were writing this movie, they thought, “What if this is Elizabeth’s twin sister?” So that’s how it happened.”
For some promotional material Forge Shared via the film’s official Instagram page, Shirer revealed her initial thoughts after being told she would be reprising her role as Elizabeth on screen and that she would be the twin sister of the character she already played in the film:
“When the Kendrick brothers first approached me and told me about this idea they had, my first thought was, ‘Amazing. How did you all come up with this stuff?”
Is the Forge the beginning of the universe?
One of the most popular methods of storytelling in film today is to combine several films together. In the past, sequels and a few sequels have been popular, but franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have shown that fans are interested in seeing dozens of movies come together.
The Kendrick brothers have made dozens of Christian movies over the years, but none of them have ever really connected, and certainly not been marketed as taking place in the same continuity.
Going forward, it’s possible that some of their future films will start following the core thread, especially if viewers seem to appreciate it Forge.
As mentioned, Elizabeth is not the only character Forge which can be seen inside War room. Others like Tony and Danielle Jordan were also in the 2015 film. This is similar to franchises like the MCU that bring back major characters from previous projects in future movies or shows.
So in the future, it’s possible that fans will see some of the characters from the Kenrdick brothers’ previous films make it back to the big screen.
