With wholesome beginnings in Barcelona, News & Coffee is a passion project that’s expanded across the continent, bringing back life to abandoned or closed-down newsstands in the process.
News & Coffee in London
Their newest location is located on Granary Square’s Coal Drops Yardnestled inside one of London’s most contemporary newsstands designed in 2008 (pictured above). Although relatively recent, the revamped look was an attempt to reimagine the traditional kiosks seen across the capital—with News & Coffee now continuing this fabulous legacy at their King’s Cross location.
As for their other store, you can find it directly outside Holborn Stationwhich has a sleeker, more compact look and has also embraced its architectural shell.
But you’re probably here for the coffee, right? Well, you’re in for an absolute treat with News & Coffee, who stock some of the best single-origin coffee beans that they import and roast themselves—you can even take home a bag if you like the taste and prefer chilling on the couch with your homebrew.
News & Coffee do not shy away from the ‘news’ aspect either. There’s an unbeatable selection of curated reads and art magazines that you can purchase with your daily pick-me-up, making it a great option for those always on the hunt for some artistic inspiration.
You can also expect some of the big newspapers for your consideration too, but there’s an undeniable focus on art and creativity; bringing this overdue revitalisation to newsstands that have been sacred to these communities for years.
