If you’re so inclined to keep a countdown going, you’ll know that we’re under 100 days away from the big C D 2025. But a little while before that, London starts to kit itself out in its effort to embrace the most wonderful time of the year.
We’ve had news of Covent Garden and Carnaby Street’s plans for getting the streets merry and bright, and Marylebone Village have now followed suit to confirm they will be lighting up their streets with a grand switch-on event on Wednesday, November 12.
Marylebone Village Christmas lights 2025
Why switch on the lights without making a day of it before? Marylebone Village start the celebrations before the sun goes down, running the event from 3-8pm to build the suspense up to the big moment and stick around for some festive revelling afterwards. On the day, Marylebone High Street will be pedestrianised for those passing through (even the Scrooges) to open their Christmas account for the year and get the festivities cranked up by grabbing a gift at the market stalls or taking part in a craft workshop.
Over on Devonshire Street, you’ll find the main celebration and the switch-on event itself, with local choirs gearing up the crowds through the afternoon and BBC broadcaster Jo Good once again on hand to host the grand reveal of the lights for 2025 (with a special guest appearence also on the cards). Once the streets are kitted out in the glimmering, 100% recycled display, anyone attending can potter around the area to enjoy the tombola, ride on the Ferris wheel, try delightful street food dishes, and take the kids to Santa’s Grotto.
Marylebone Village Christmas lights switch-on events run from 3-8pm on Wednesday, November 12. This year the event runs in support of The Marylebone Project, which works to provide help for homeless women. You can read more about the charity and donate directly on their website.
