By the end of the year Postcard murders, the film’s central killers are identified as Marina and Simon Haysmith, but neither is caught. One of them is seemingly killed by Jacob’s gunshot, while the other, Marina, is alive and on the run.
The final shot reinforces this as Marina calls her estranged father.
Despite this open cliffhanger, there are currently no known plans Postcard murders 2. However, this shouldn’t be too surprising as the original Book the film is based on (of the same name) is also a standalone story.
While the creative team could always go ahead with the original story (many adaptation projects go beyond their source material, such as Game of Thrones and Trace), it is also highly unlikely.
Three years have passed since the release of the film, and there has been no development regarding a possible sequel. It doesn’t help that the Good Films Collective-produced film currently has a 24% critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 38% audience score.
The project also did not do very well at the box office, which was not helped by the global COVID-19 pandemic situation at the time.
The only lingering hope for fans Postcard murders 2 The odds are that its predecessor, which was Netflix’s top movie in the US on January 29th, will remain popular enough in the coming weeks that the Good Films Collective is confident that the sequel could significantly outperform the first film from an audience perspective.
What would happen in The Postcard Killings 2?
Assuming another Postcard murders the film served as a direct sequel and not just another case, one would have to assume that Noami Battrick’s Marina Haysmith would heavily influence the film’s plot. He is no doubt upset that his lover and adopted brother are dead.
He can turn to two people to express his anger: Jacob Kano or Simon Haysmith Sr., Marina’s father. The ending of the original movie seems to indicate that she would go after her abusive father first.
But there are also many unresolved issues between Jacob and her. After all, he is the one who killed the love of his life.
One aspect of the film that would be hard to replicate for a sequel is Postcard part, especially when half of the deadly couple is dead. Their lethal artistic expression has no reason to exist.
If Postcard murders 2 happens one day, it should be a completely new title as well.
After writing, Postcard murders now streaming on Netflix.
