Housed in the former Midland Bank building, this iconic hotel in the heart of London blends opulent 1920s glamour with modern luxury.
Every corner of the property exudes character, from the sweeping ceilings and Art Deco details to the buzzing energy that fills the grand reception lobby.

After checking into our beautifully appointed room (plush linens, a spacious bathroom, and stylish vintage touches throughout), we took some time to explore the hotel.
The room (Image: Immy Share, Newsquest)But The Ned isn’t just a hotel – it’s an entire lifestyle experience.
With multiple restaurants, a spa, live music, and secret corners waiting to be discovered, it’s easy to get swept up in the atmosphere.
And, even better, you’re right by Bank Station which means you can pretty much use The Ned as your base to get anywhere.
Dinner at Lutyens Grill was a true highlight.
Dinner at Lutyens – dover sole, steak, mashed potato and vegetables (Image: Immy Share, Newsquest) The restaurant itself feels intimate and refined, with rich wood panelling and the soft glow of candlelight creating an inviting ambiance.
I started with the burrata, which was incredibly creamy, served with soya beans and peas – simple, fresh, and packed with flavour.
My boyfriend chose the scallops, perfectly seared and delicately plated.
For mains, I had the dover sole, filleted tableside, buttery and tender, paired beautifully with a side of spinach and mashed potato.
The steak selection was presented to us on a board, with the specialities explained, including the farming and background of the meat.
My boyfriend opted for a classic steak, cooked exactly to his liking, juicy and charred just right.

What really made the evening unforgettable, though, was the live band playing in the central hall just outside the restaurant.
The music – jazzy, upbeat, and sophisticated – filtered into the dining room, adding a vibrant energy to the meal.
After dinner, we lingered in the lounge with a cocktail in hand, soaking in the atmosphere as the band played on and guests danced or relaxed in deep armchairs.

Later that night, we ventured into The Vault, one of The Ned’s most intriguing features.
Located in the building’s original bank vault, behind a massive circular door once used to secure safe deposit boxes, The Vault now houses a stylish bar and late-night club exclusive to members and hotel guests.
It’s moody, intimate, and oozing with cool – a perfect spot for nightcaps or dancing into the early hours.
The cocktails were excellent, the vibe was effortlessly chic, and the DJ kept the energy high.
It’s not every day you sip a negroni surrounded by 3,000 gleaming safety deposit boxes – it’s the kind of place you won’t forget.
The next morning, we had breakfast at Millie’s Lounge, which was the perfect place to ease into the day.
Breakfast at Millie’s (Image: Immy Share, Newsquest) The menu offers everything from traditional English breakfasts to lighter options. I chose the avocado toast with scrambled while my boyfriend went for fried eggs.
We couldn’t help but share some pancakes too, which were thick, fluffy and oozing with berry deliciousness and whipped cream.
There’s also the option to order room service from either Millie’s or the Electric Diner, which is a great touch for those wanting a slower start in the comfort of their room.
Before we checked out, we spent a couple of hours at The Ned’s spa, which was the perfect way to round off our stay.

The facilities are top-tier: a serene relaxation area, a hammam, and a pool that feels like a hidden retreat.
I had a massage and the therapists was clearly highly skilled, tailoring the treatment, and the space itself was tranquil and immaculate.
All in all, our stay at The Ned was flawless from beginning to end. It’s more than just a place to sleep, it’s a destination in its own right.
Whether you’re dining under a vaulted ceiling with live music, sipping cocktails in a converted bank vault, or unwinding in the spa, The Ned delivers a one-of-a-kind experience that feels both indulgent and effortlessly cool.
We’re already looking for excuses to return.
