Thanks for the long overdue update Strange things Season 5, fans can finally see when the series will be released.
The fifth and final season of Netflix’s hit series has been coming for a long time. Season 5, released in February 2022, is set to conclude the series, with filming set to begin in early 2024.
The series was originally slated to go in front of cameras last summer, but was ultimately pushed due to writer and actor strikes that shut down the entertainment industry for much of 2023.
A Stranger Things 5 production update helps pinpoint its release window
After the recent announcement, fans believe they know when Strange things Season 5 might come out.
After months of silence about the series, it’s official Strange things social channels released a special new video as part of Season 1’s eighth anniversary on July 15.
This video featured a behind-the-scenes look at Season 5 and teased what’s to come in the show’s big farewell.
As part of the brief tease, the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, revealed that they are “about halfway through the shoot” in the new season.
This will confirm for fans where the series is in production and how long it may be before Season 5 debuts.
According to the official Strange things X (formerly Twitter) account, the show began filming on January 8, 2024.
If on July 15th the show was about halfway through production, filming should be completed sometime in December 2024 or January 2025.
This matches previous estimates from series star David Harbor, who teased in November 2023 that he will see the series shoot. “of the year:”
“There’s going to be a bit of a push, but ‘Stranger Things 5’ is shooting for a year. So ‘Thunderbolts’ has to live somewhere within that, but the whole thing is crazy speculation at this point.”
Using this information about when principal photography for the show will be completed, one can begin to predict when it will be released.
In comparison, Season 4 finished filming in September 2021 before being released about eight months later on May 27, 2022.
If season 5 follows suit (and ends filming in December/January), a release date for season 5 in either late summer or early fall 2025 makes the most sense.
However, given the scale of Season 5, described as “basically making eight movies” of one of its stars (via the New York Post ), it wouldn’t be at all surprising if this release forecast were stretched a bit, moving the series to later in 2025 or even early 2026.
