Move over, Henry VIII! The queens are rightfully taking over—and this time, they’re taking the spotlight for an anticipated film release of the adored theatre production. Six The Musical is the critically acclaimed pop phenomenon that reimagines the tumultuous lives of Henry’s wives, reclaiming their time to set the story straight.

What started as a must-see musical at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival has quickly become one of the hottest tickets in town, even making its way to a Broadway stage in NYC and snatching a Tony Award in the process. Due to this ground-breaking success, it was only a matter of time before it metamorphosed into some well-earned movie magic.

All set to make its cinematic debut on 6 April, 2025the film will be a pre-shot version of the West End production, captured live from the West End’s Vaudeville Theatre.

This glittering adaptation promises to bring all the sass, sparkle, and sizzling vocals from the stage directly to the silver screenthrough a setlist of electrifying songs with each queen telling her side of Henry’s notorious tale.

The show turns the historical narrative on its head, presenting Catherine of Arafon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard, and Catherine Parr as modern pop icons in an epic girl group (or queen group).

As for the film, the original West End cast will be reprising their roles as the six fierce queens in all their glory—starring Jarnéla Richard-Noel, Millie O’Connell, Natalie Paris, Alexia McIntosh, Amie Atkinson, and Maiya Quansah-Breed.

Universal Puctures Content Group is behind the release, renowned for bringing theatrical productions like ‘Les Muserables: The Staged Concert’ and ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ to cinemas. It will be under the direction of Liz Claire, and the creative vision of Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, the musical’s OG creators.
