The price of mobiles these days is enough to deter anyone from upgrading their phone, no matter how in need of a data, camera or software boost they are. That’s one reason used models or cost-sharing contracts are popular choices, but a newly discovered tech deal could mean you can get a Samsung phone for a much cheaper price.
You’ll have to forego the flagship range, but the latest deal from Very has just made the Samsung Galaxy S23 much cheaper to buy, with £150 off the price. However, a closer look at the Samsung store reveals a loophole that will save you a much bigger £440
Originally £849, Samsung means fans will be able to buy the model for £409. For anyone looking for an updated smartphone but can’t quite justify paying the price of a flagship device, this price drop could be a good contender.

Both Very and Samsung offer the same discount on the S23 model, but a closer look when comparing the offers reveals a slightly better deal if you have an older phone lying around at home. Samsung will knock a further £290 (at most) off the cheaper £699 if you trade in – bringing the potential total to just £409.
Despite being more than a year old, the S23 is still a high-end phone to go for and has several years of continuous software updates ahead of it. With every new S-series Galaxy phone launched, you’ll be able to download some of the software-supported new features for your model.
To put it into perspective, it’s like choosing an Apple iPhone 14 over the newer iPhone 15, even though it’s a year older than the flagship model, it’s still one of the most updated models you can buy from the brand. And of course, compared to the iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 series, its updates will last much longer.
“It’s especially good if you want something that gives you good value for money … for the average person who just wants a good Android phone, the S23 is just that.” Other older models currently available for a much cheaper price include Amazon‘s Pixel 7 and this iPhone 14 for £599 at Argos.
