Ryanair warns against one suitcase colour as they ‘keep getting lost’

Airline Ryanair has revealed what suitcase colours to avoid at the airport, warning passengers that they’re more likely to have difficulty finding their bags — or it could even get taken by mistake by another unsuspecting traveller.

According to the budget carrier, grey, blue, and black are the most common colours travellers choose. But opting for something brighter will make it easier to spot your stuff on the carousel, and it’s less likely that other passengers will accidentally pick up yours.

‘Make it easier to spot your checked-in luggage on the carousel, especially if it is black, navy or grey (like 99.9% of the population),’ they said. ‘Add a colourful luggage tag or ribbon to the handle so there’s no confusion on arrival.’

If you’re keen to swap your standard black case, Antler is currently running a major sale, which lets you pick up its luxurious top-quality luggage with huge savings. That includes this top-rated Logo Cabin Bag in a bright amber hue, reduced to £96 from £160, and this Stamford Large Suitcase in a deep berry red, now £202.50 from £270.

Our top pick, though, is the Icon Stripe Biggest Cabin Bag, now £156 from £195 — the cheapest we’ve seen it in comparison to other retailers such as John Lewis. In an attractive pink hue, you’re sure not to miss it in the airport, but it also has plenty of handy features; it’s water-resistant, has a hardwearing shell to protect belongings, and has double-zip pockets and compression straps to make the most of the available space.

It’s a hit with shoppers, too, with 161 five-star reviews. One person called it ‘a lovely looking case which handles really well and packs a lot in’, while another said ‘the wheels work seamlessly from pulling behind to pushing along’.

A third satisfied customer said, ‘I feel stylish walking through the airport, and it is compact and easy to wheel around. I chose the one with the expander so I can pack a bit extra for the way back. I’d like to get the rest of my family one each. I have used it as cabin and hold luggage, so it’s very versatile and has been perfect for my travels.’

It doesn’t have many negative reviews, although one person noted that their purchase arrived with a ‘large scuff’. However, the issue was quickly resolved after they complained to customer service.

Still, this is a great opportunity to shop premium luggage with a discount — especially if you’re keen to follow Ryanair’s advice and opt for a brighter, more distinctive suitcase. You can shop the Icon Stripe Biggest Cabin Bag via Antler or check out the rest of the sale here.

If you’re on a budget, there are plenty more colourful suitcases to consider. From John Lewis’ great-value ANYDAY range, this hard-shell yellow case is just £65 and is large enough for a week’s holiday. This Rock Lisbon orange case is also a bargain, reduced to £46.20 from £70 in Argos’ sale.
