The Belfast City Council has approved a planning permission to build a new Million Million hotel in the city.
The Bedford Hotel, developed by Derry/Londonderry-based Martin Property Group, is scheduled to open in October and create 85 jobs.
Martin Property Group submitted his design application in February last year to turn an Edwardian-style Scotland building into a hotel.
Construction will continue in the currently listed building on Bedford Street with 102 bedrooms, as well as the target restaurant, café and bar after graduation.
The independent hospitality management company Focus Hotels manages the property after it has been opened.
Paul Martin, CEO of Martin Property Group, said: “We are delighted that we have secured a planning permission for this exciting new boutique hotel in the heart of the center of Belfast, which means a significant milestone in the vision of this iconic building to be vibrant.
“The Bedford Hotel provides visitors with a luxury experience, ensuring a considerable number of jobs both during the construction phase and in long-term hospitality roles. We look forward to wishing guests as the doors open later this year and see this development a positive impact on the city and the wider Belfast economy for years to come.”
