Mous Limitless for Google Pixel 9/9 Pro

With a premium finish and plenty of drop protection, the Limitless is one of the best cases you can get for the Pixel 9 series.

A Pixel 9! In a Mous case!

If you’ve spent any amount of time reading about phones, you’ve probably seen those annoying Mous ads. If not, I’m sorry to say that after opening this page it’s only a matter of time.

But annoying ads aside, I have to say Mous really knows how to make a good case. I tested out both of the brand’s cases for the Pixel 9 series, and despite some fierce competition, one of them remains my daily driver. As someone who usually changes cases every few days, that’s really saying something.

There are two cases in the lineup — the Mous Super Thin and the Mous Limitless — and they are wildly different, so let’s look at each separately (spoiler: the Limitless is my favorite Pixel 9 case).

Mous Super Thin: For those who don’t want a case

Mous Super Thin

The Mous Super Thin enters the phone case category on a technicality because there isn’t really another word for it. As the name implies, it’s a very, very thin polycarbonate shell that snaps onto the back of your phone.

There are no buttons on the case, with an opening to expose the bare buttons that works well enough. The two slits on the bottom are probably the only reason this case can be installed onto the Pixel 9, since the case has virtually no flex at all.

And as a heads up, it’s not very easy to take off. I definitely felt like it was in danger of snapping every time I removed it, although that might have just been a psychological effect of it being so thin.

On that note, it’s by far the thinnest case I’ve tested, but that also comes with some serious drawbacks. It adds no drop protection, and there’s no real screen lip to speak of.

But what the Super Thin does add is magnets.

The Mous Super Thin is all about magnets, for better or worse.

Despite the incredibly thin profile it manages to fit a full MagSafe array in the back. That means you can use magnetic mounts, wallets, chargers, and more without adding any bulk to your Pixel 9.

Ultimately though, I think the Super Thin is a bit too expensive for what ends up being a pretty niche offering. Unless you’re really committed to both magnets and a super thin case, there are better options.

Mous Limitless: The ultimate Pixel 9 case

Speaking of better options, in my opinion, the Mous Limitless is the absolute best Pixel 9 case you can buy. It’s not cheap, but it has every feature I could want from a case, making it a fantastic value.

For me it’s just the right thickness, with enough to keep the phone safe but not so much that it becomes cumbersome. The lip holds tight but is slightly lower on the sides, making swipe gestures pretty easy to achieve. I think Mous could have gone a bit deeper to make it even easier, but it’s still a comfortable case to use.

The Limitless also hits the sweet spot when it comes to grip. Every new phone nowadays feels like an even thinner bar of soap, so slippery that even taking it out of the box feels like some kind of taskmaster challenge. The sides of the Limitless have subtle grip strips where your hands rest, and the texture is still smooth enough to slip the phone into a pocket without collecting a year’s worth of lint.

The Mous Limitless has quickly become my daily driver.

Speaking of textures, there are several options for the back plate, and they’re not just printed polycarbonate. Each one, from walnut and bamboo to acetate and carbon fiber, has a unique texture that feels very premium in hand.

Like the Super Thin, the Limitless also has integrated magnets. Using accessories will cover up the nifty backing materials, but it’s still a great feature. Combined with other details like lanyard holes and nice, clicky buttons, it’s one of the most complete cases on the market.
