A new Netflix documentary from 2024 reveals who Scott Scurlock is and how he managed to pull off nearly two dozen bank robberies in Seattle in the 1990s.

Elizabeth Stanton
One of Scott Scurlock’s friends who agrees to participate in the documentary is Elizabeth Stanton.
Elizabeth discussed the first time she entered Scurlock’s tree house (his actual house), revealing that it is the place where “You can break away from society’s norms.”
He also attended the same college as Scott, which is Evergreen State College.
Suzanne Scurlock
Suzanne Scurlock is Scott’s sister who portrays her brother “adrenaline junkie” who likes to do brave things.
Suzanne says that Scott made important choices in his life “led him into directions from which he could not turn round and back out.”
He also describes his brother by name “master of disinformation”. He explains that he wouldn’t outright lie to them, but he would tell them something that they knew wasn’t right at the time.
Alban Pfisterer
Alban Pfisterer, a friend of Scott’s, joins the cast How to rob a bank to discuss Scott’s early days as a drug dealer and creator of crystal meth.
Alban points out that Scott built his reputation as a producer “some of the finest substances” then.
Mark Biggins
Mark Biggins is a longtime friend of Scott’s and the main criminal in more than 18 bank robberies. She says they both had a lot of energy and clicked because they were wild and free.
Mark lived with Scott in their treehouse with their daughter for many years.
Although he initially wanted to quit his life of crime after their first heist, Mark went down the rabbit hole and eventually returned to teaming up with Scott to continue his illegal ways. He said lying had become second nature to him because of the path he had chosen.
Mark was released from prison in 2015 after serving 21 years and three months.
Steven Harper
Steven Harper, Scott’s childhood friend, tells how their friendship was anchored in both of their appetites for adventure.
Scott had a different fearlessness, Steven recalls, as they both learned to pick locks at an early age.
Ellen Glasser
Ellen Glasser is an FBI special agent joining the conversation How to rob a bank About Scott Scurlock’s involvement in bank robberies in Seattle and how he earned the nickname Hollywood.
Glasser reveals that Scurlock became the FBI’s number one after becoming the supervisor of their task force.
Shawn Johnson
Shawn Johnson, who was the FBI agent who served as the lead on the case involving Scott Scurlock, makes an appearance How to rob a bank.
Johnson describes Hollywood as “professional bank robbery” points out that he “perfected his craft.”
The veteran FBI agent also points out that he thinks Hollywood robs banks mainly for the adrenaline and the challenge of doing it, with the money second.
David Kerley
David Kerley, news reporter and TV anchor for Kiro-TV, talks about the state of Seattle in the 1990s and the rise of banks in the city due to the large flow of money.
Along with the continued presence of banks in Seattle, David admits that bank robberies had become more common in the 90s.
Deborah Horne
Deborah Horne, who worked as Kiro-7’s field reporter in the 1990s, witnesses the increase in bank robberies in the city.
Deborah was also one of the reporters who covered Scott Scurlock’s bank robbery that took place over Thanksgiving in 1996.
TJ Losey
TJ Losey is another of Scott Scurlock’s friends who joins the conversation to reflect on his unique self.
TJ recalls how Scurlock’s free-spirited personality is on full display when he answered the door after stripping naked.
He also talks about Scurlock’s treehouse and its introduction “great outdoor experience.”
Mike Magan
Mike Magan is a Seattle Police Department detective who teams up with FBI agent Shawn Johnson to try and track down Scott Scurlock, aka Hollywood.
Mike describes his partnership with Shawn “night and day” because they have different styles of attacking the case. He notes, “Shawn Johnson was the fire and Mike Magan was the gas can.”
Jimmy Matheson
Jimmy Mateson is from Seattle, performing in 2024 How to rob a bank to talk about the rise of Grunge in the city and how that correlates to the fact that some people think of Hollywood (Scurlock) as Robin Hood because of his actions.
Steve Meyers
Steve Meyers, one of Scott’s friends and partners in crime, is among those interviewed How to rob a bank.
Steve says that Scott hired him to help him build his infamous tree house. By building the structure, he pointed out, they did “some of the craziest buildings.”
He also admits it “the log cabin was Scott’s inner personality come to life.”
Steve and Mark Biggins were the masterminds behind Scott’s evil scheme of bank robberies, and they managed to make over $2.3 million during the 1990s.
Steve is responsible for being a spotter, analyzing potential targets and their income.
However, all bad things must come to an end after the failed bank robbery of the Seafirst Bank in Lake City in November 1996. Steve was sentenced to 21 years and 3 months in prison before being released in December 2013.
