Marks & Spencer is recalling M&S Smooth Butternut Squash Soup because it may contain small pieces of metal. The Food Standards Agency has issued an urgent warning about the potentially dangerous product.
The recall covers M & S Smooth Butternut Squash Soup in 600g containers with a use by date of 6 October 2024.
Point of sale notices will appear in all stores that sell the product. The notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have purchased the product.
If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, it can be “withdrawn” (taken off the shelves) or “recalled” (when customers are asked to return the product). The FSA issues product recall notices and product recall notices to inform consumers and local authorities about problems associated with food. In some cases, a “Food Alert for Action” is issued. This provides local authorities with information on specific measures to be taken on behalf of consumers.
