The London Tower bridge at sunrise on a sunny summer day - shot against blue clear sky into the shining sun

Dig out your sun cream and dust of your flip-flops, Londoners – because the time has finally come. We’re having a heatwave. And I mean a proper heatwave. That’s right, folks – just like my age, the temperature in London will be soaring into the early-thirties this weekend. But unlike the former; the latter will be welcomed with open arms.

According to BBC Weather, the capital city will be reaching the dizzying heights of 32°C on Sunday (June 22), making London warmer than Ibizawhich will only just be hitting the 30°C mark. And yes, I know there’s not a lot in it – but when you spend approximately ten months of the year wrapped in a blanket, clutching onto your hot water bottle as if your life depends on it; every degree counts.

So, get ready to fill those diaries with all sorts of summery social plans. And if you need a little help in that department; allow us to point you in the direction of the very best rooftop bars, beer gardens, parks, pools, and picnic spots in the capital city. That’s what we’re here for, after all.

Now look, I don’t want to get too ahead of myself. It’s still only Tuesday and – well… this is the UKafter all. So yes, it’s highly likely that the forecast will change before the weekend. But for now, if you need me this weekend; expect to find me in the park, tinny in hand, captioning my Instagram stories ‘Costa del Clapham’. Happy shorts-and-t-shirt weather, Londoners. We actually made it.
