London could soon be welcoming yet another speedy bus serviceas TfL has just revealed its latest Superloop expansion plans. The potential new thread in the capital’s transport tapestry would come in the form of the SL15; a rather handy bus route that is set to connect a number of busy south London locations via the South Circular Road.

If all goes to plan, the shiny new service would run between Eltham and Clapham Junction via the likes of Catford, Forest Hill, West Dulwich, and Clapham South. In keeping with the other members of London’s Superloop familythe express bus route would have a limited number of stops along the way, and would conveniently link a variety of London’s plethora of public transport options.
The SL15 would offer eight inter-rail change options along the route, including the Thameslink at Catford, the Northern Line at Clapham South, and the London Overground at Forest Hill. Due to a low bridge at Thurlow Park Road (near Tulse Hill), only single-decker buses will be able to run along the route.
Potential traffic means that the route in its entirety could take up to 70 minutesbut it’s a cheaper and more convenient option to what’s currently available. South London is notoriously poorly connected, and so adding another express service into the mix is certainly a step bus ride in the right direction.
Transport for London are hoping for the SL15 route to join the existing network of Superloop routes. There are currently 11 of the speedy services whizzing around the capital city, with the most recent being the Bakerloop route, that hit London’s roads back in September.
Once the route is up and running, the SL15 would offer services every 12 minutes on Mondays to Saturdays, and every 15 minutes on Sundays (and weekday early mornings and evenings). Read more about the proposed SL15 Superloop route and have your say in the public consultation here.
