A total of 11 coronavirus deaths in London hospitals have been reported in the past three days, as the numbers continue to fall.

Five deaths were reported on Monday (15 June), three deaths on Sunday (14 June) and three deaths on Saturday (13 June).

The latest figures from NHS England also show that fewer than ten deaths in hospitals in the capital have been reported every day for almost a week.

This comes as lockdown restrictions begin to ease, with many non-essential shops reopening and some students returning to school.

The prime minister has also ordered a review of the two meter social distancing rule.

However, the travel rules have been tightened, as face masks become mandatory on all public transport across the country.

While a low number of coronavirus deaths is welcomed, officials are still warning of a second peak and continue to remind Londoners to be safe.

On Sunday (June 14), London Mayor Sadiq Khan tweeted: “Although there have been changes to social distancing rules, the lockdown is still in place.

“Everyone must continue to avoid public transport for non-essential travel. By doing so, you are protecting our capital from a deadly second wave of #COVID19.”

A further 32 hospital deaths were recorded in the UK on Monday (June 15), taking the country’s death toll to 41,698.

This is the second lowest increase since the lockdown began in March.

As of Monday (June 15), 6,072 people in hospital across London have sadly lost their lives as a result of the coronavirus.

Here’s a breakdown of the number of deaths recorded in London hospitals by NHS England over the past seven days:
