There are only a few days left of the summer holidays, which means it’s prime time for parents to scramble to get everything ready for their little ones to return to school. And one necessity for kids, alongside shoes, uniforms and new pencil-cases, is a bag to hold everything – one that’s durable and will last a good few school years.

Just so happens that we’ve found a nifty ‘back to school’ deal on Amazon that sees fabulous bag brand Kipling dropping the price of its highly rated City Pack (medium) to £45.16 just £107 – that’s a discount of 58%! The backpack – which is on Kipling for £107 – has accrued a seriously impressive 4.7 star rating on Amazon alone along with over 1600 glistening reviews.

Shoppers have praised its ability to hold a variety of essential items for students, professionals and explorers alike. Measuring at 37x32x18.5cm, the bag comes in a handful of alternative colours (although this particular price applies to the True Navy Combo) and is water repellent; essential for kids going to school in the UK.

The brand describes the City Pack as a “backpack (which) is a veritable delight, combining style, fun and practicality all in one. This backpack comes in a range of classic colours and sophisticated finishes with chic feminine appeal. The City Pack backpack also has a multitude of easy reach pockets with plenty of space inside to store all your essentials with carefree ease.”

Kipling City Pack

The bag has one main pocket for all your larger items, with a smaller pocket inside for the more essential things that you need to keep safe. On the outside of the bag, on either side you’ll find a popper fastened pocket and at the front a small zip pocket. You’ve also got a zip pocket on the back of the bag, which is great for keeping your keys and other such items. A handy backpack that allows you to separate and organise your things efficiently!

It’s no surprise that 1200 of the Kipling City Pack bag’s reviews are five star, with one happy Kipling customer calling it a ‘great travel bag’, stating: “The zipped pocket that sits against the back is an excellent feature – means your wallet and phone are secure. The interior is roomy- plenty of room for snacks and books. I also love the outer drawstring section – perfect for a small jacket and scarf. Side pockets good for brolly and water bottle. Plus it’s well-made and very light. Will use it a lot. Very happy with my purchase.”

Another shared the sentiment and said: “The quality is amazing and it still looks brand new 5 months on (I use it all the time). The pockets are all really useful. There are no design flaws or irritating things about it. You definitely get what you pay for and won’t regret getting this bag!”

A third who hailed it as the ‘best backpack I never thought I needed’ added: “Where should I start, I love this bag! So light! So many pockets!! Perfect as a commuter, I get to organise my bag and pack EVERYTHING I need for the day, no more random purchases because I can fit anything from a small Cath Kidstons sewing kit to a mini first aid kit! I am in love! It’s a bag that will be with you from now until the future! I can imagine wearing this when I’m 60+!!”

While the image on Amazon shows that the bag comes with the classic Kipling monkey key ring, some shoppers were left disappointed when their Kipling bag arrived without it, as one testified: “I have had several Kipling bags & they are brilliant. I like my new backpack but I am disappointed that the keyring strap isn’t included.”

If the Kipling design isn’t selling it for you and you’re after something a little bigger, this Passenger Boondocker Backpack is £64.95 from John Lewis and is also water resistent. Wanting something a bit more colourful? The Fjallraven classic Kånken backpack is a little pricier at £95 but it has some stunning colours ranging from pastel lavender to terracotta brown and ultramarine blue. Get yours here.

For something a little more fun and playful, this red printed Montana rucksack from Superdry is covered in white daisies and costs £22.50 in the brand’s sale.

For Amazon’s Kipling deal, however, snap it up here while stock lasts.
