During my trip to Florence in 2021, I visited the city’s most famous focaccia restaurant, and it was like heaven between two slices of bread. But when I tried Dal Fiorentino’s Italian flatbread, I was struck by their huge competition.
Located in a small shop just off Brick Lane, Dal Fiorentino boasts an impressive range of fresh ingredients on display at their new branch. As soon as you step inside, the traditional decor and the smell of freshly baked bread transport you straight to the streets of Italy.
Dal Fiorentino, on Cheshire Street, has brought its authentic Schiacciate Fiorentine recipe straight from Tuscany to London. It offers a wide selection of mouth-watering sandwiches, to suit both meat lovers and vegetarians.

I chose one of their vegetarian options – “I Medici” – with creamy Stracciatella cheese, grilled aubergines and sun-dried tomatoes. I added fresh arugula and topped with, for me, the best, truffle honey.
Although the bread was not warm, it remained soft and it was generously filled with fresh ingredients. Since it can be a little messy to eat, I would suggest enjoying it on a sunny day while sitting in Allen Gardens.
Despite the indulgent ingredients, Dal Fiorentino’s Schiacciate achieves the perfect balance of flavor without feeling heavy. They offer a guilt-free treat that satisfies both the palate and the conscience.
Since the truffle honey wasn’t enough to satisfy my sweet tooth, I ordered one of their dessert flatbreads. Even though Nutella was calling my name, I stuck with my all-time favorite, pistachio, and I couldn’t have been happier with my choice – it felt like I had a whole jar of pistachio cream.
With prices starting from £4.50, Dal Fiorentino offers value for money food without compromising on quality or portion size. Whether you fancy a savory lunch or something sweet, their menu caters for all tastes and budgets, ensuring a meal that will keep you feeling satisfied all day long.
I ordered the large ‘I Medici’, which cost £7.50, and the regular Pistachio, which cost £4.50, and I was full for the day.
The cozy and authentically decorated interior added to the overall charm of Dal Fiorentino’s Brick Lane branch, making it a must-visit for foodies looking for a taste of Italy in the heart of London. Don’t pass by without stopping to experience a piece of Florence.
