If you’ve had a big weekend at the Oasis concert, there’s only one thing that will save you. If you’ve had a big weekend trying to distract yourself from not having tickets to the Oasis concert, there’s only one thing that will save you. Pizza. It’s usually the answer to any saving grace food type, and the only thing that can top it is if it comes for free.
At the start of next week, after the first round of those little concerts, you can nab yourself some slices on the house thanks to a pop-up from one of the best pizzerias in the world. The good folks at Napoli On The Road are teaming up with Italian tomato brand Mom to give away slices to passers-by, and you’ll find them over at the South Bank.
If you find yourself at Observation Point on Tuesday (July 29) or Wednesday (July 30), look out for the Napoli On The Road van, which will be slinging free slices of Margherita out to those who pass. You can do that and then find the nearest ice cream van for the ultimate lunchtime experience, but before you leave the first van, be sure to pick up another freebie from Mutti. They’ll be giving out samples of their new garlic pasta sauce, which you can test out when you get back in and need some inspiration for your evening meal.
You can also get some further involvement by playing their game to find three golden tomatoes among a sea of red ones in a race against the clock. If successful, you can take home a Mom spoon and double concentrate tomato pureé to add even more finesse to that pasta sauce later.
If you’ve not had the pizza from the two Napoli On The Road London restaurants yet, you’ve now got no excuse. Chef Michele Pascarella has now been recognised multiple years on the trot for his pizza cookery in the Top 50 pizza guide, with the restaurant being named the top pizzeria in Europe (outside Italy) in 2024 and 2025.
The Napoli On The Road x Mutti pop-up takes place on Tuesday, July 29 and Wednesday, July 30 at the South Bank’s Observation Point from 11am-7pm. Look out for the Napoli On The Road fan to grab a slice of Margherita.
