Free dinner every month in London? Surely not, you’re thinking, well it’s true. Kindred, a co-working space, restaurant and cultural events venue found in the heart of Hammersmith, want to make it that bit easier to meet new people in London when times are tight.
That’s why they’re hosting monthly community dinners on every first Monday of each month with local food charity Nourish Hub that’s free for diners to enjoy as they mingle with like-minded people and have meaningful interactions.
So how does it work? From 7pm to 9pm, guests can enjoy a delicious spread of food to share on the table along with one complimentary drink provided by Kindred, and a new food menu each month. At the previous community dinner in December, a feast of delicious Algerian dishes was whipped up in a menu created by Kindred’s chef Khaled Merah inspired by how food from his culture brings people together. Guests enjoyed indulgent lamb tagine with vegetable couscous, tabouleh and flatbread, miso and mango glazed aubergine, buckwheat and pomegranate crumble, ending the meal with a Middle Eastern milk pudding.
To create a relaxed environment and encourage people to interact, there’ll be optional games that guests can take part in which will relieve some of that pressure when meeting new people especially if you’re coming alone. Whilst the meal is free and all you need to do is book a ticket, there will be an option to donate to Nourish Hub which focuses on empowering people and making better places.
Founder Anna Anderson is passionate about the importance of community and believes that business is more than just making sales. She comments: ‘It’s about being a part of the community, and contributing where we can, when we can. The launch of our monthly community dinners will continue Kindred’s work in bringing together our community and helping West Londoners to meet, eat and enjoy time together in a beautiful setting.’
The next date for the community dinner is February 5. Book your ticket and find out more here.
