Drop The first season finale revealed why one character was after Siggi Wilzig’s severed head, and it has to do with cold fusion energy.
The latest Amazon Prime video game-to-TV adaptation based on the wildly popular Bethesda series quickly won over audiences with its cast and fidelity to the source material.
Much of the season focused on Ella Purnell’s Lucy’s travels across the wilderness to deliver a scientist’s head to a woman named Moldaver (Sarita Choudhury). Lucy’s father was captured by the Moldaver and Lucy didn’t know the reason behind it all.

Fallout TV Series: What is cold fusion energy?
Episode 8 (“The Beginning”). Drop Season 1, Lucy arrives at the Griffith Observatory to give Moldaver Siggi Wilzig’s head in exchange for her father’s release. Moldaver then reveals his motives and the truth behind Lucy’s lineage.
Moldaver tells how Lucy’s mother, who had once lived in the vault, fled the vault after realizing that its water was leaking. He found a nearly rebuilt civilization on the surface called Shady Sands, where the Moldaver lived. Long story short, Lucy’s father Hank didn’t like this and bombed Shady Sands to eliminate the competition (and in turn irradiated Lucy’s mother to the point that she became a ghoul).
Moldaver tells Lucy that Wilzig’s head contains Cold fusion, a limitless source of energy that does not contain harmful radiation effects. This energy could bring the Shady Sands back, but only a Vault-Tec employee can activate it. That’s why Lucy’s father was kidnapped.
Hank writes the cold fusion energy code after realizing he has lost Lucy’s trust. After a wild series of events involving the return of Maximus (Aaron Mote), Hank escaping, and Lucy leaving with The Ghoul (Walton Goggins) to track down her father (again), Moldaver returns after the battle.
As he bleeds out, Moldaver activates cold fusion energy and finally brings his plan to fruition.
Lights go on all over Shady Sands, igniting power all over the nuke city.
Maximus, left unconscious by Lucy and The Ghoul, watches the situation unfold and has one last conversation with Moldaver before he dies from his wounds.
A revitalized wasteland in Fallout Season 2?
The effects of cold fusion energy unleashed in the wasteland are endless Dropn’s future.
Now in Green Season 2, Drop He has many loose ends, such as Hank’s escape to New Vegas, The Ghoul’s search for his pre-apocalyptic family, and Lucy’s possible return to Vault 33.
As for cold fusion energy, Shady Sands is now (supposedly) one of the first fully functional cities in the wasteland since the bombs were dropped in 2077.
Shady Sands could become a hub Drop forward, as characters return for supplies or rest. However, the city’s energy could possibly be used in other ways as well.
Whether it’s powered by other cities or technology (whether in good or bad hands), the introduction and successful activation of cold fusion energy means that the so-called apocalypse may end sooner rather than later.
And if there are still any left, Vaults 31 and 33 are full of former Vault-Tec employees who can easily activate them.
However, the Brotherhood of Steel may have plans for cold fusion energy as well, as they have a knack for tracking and locking down the technology. Moldaver’s warning to Maximus before he dies that he can only try to stop the Brotherhood may not be in vain.
Drop Season 1 is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
