a coffee table filled with food, including rice, curries, naan breads and chai teas.

Dishoom is all grown up. What started in 2010 as a Covent Garden venue paying tribute to the dying tradition of Irani cafes in Bombay has become a legend of the dining scene around the world. After 15 years of nourishing diners with its black daal, legendary bacon naan rolls, and warming chai, Dishoom now counts a whopping 15 locations to its name. And to celebrate 15 years of service, they’re doing a whopper of a giveaway as they give away 15 of their iconic dishes across 15 days. That’s right: 15 years; 15 restaurants; 15 days; 15 free dishes.

Over Dishoom’s decade and a half, they’ve had quite the journey. During COVID, they fed Londoners with their DIY Breakfast Naan Roll kits and kept their kitchens open to feed NHS workers. They’ve also donated millions upon millions of free meals to children. As if that wasn’t enough, they’ve expanded the Dishoom brand to include the ‘Permit Room’ bars and cafés, and even guesthouses.

Now, they’re inviting you in to celebrate 15 years of Dishoom. And, as always, they’re extending lashings of generous hospitality by giving away free dishes to diners. From September 15-29one beloved dish will be available each day, free of charge. And, yes, the celebrations are taking place across ALL 15 Dishoom sites.

15 free dishes

The giveaway of 15 free dishes kicked off today with perhaps their most iconic dish: The House Black Daal. And across the next two weeks, Dishoom will give away a grand total of 15 free dishes.

To be clear – Dishoom isn’t just giving away 15 free plates of food each day. Instead, they’re picking an individual menu item each day and giving it away for that day only. And with the promotion running for 15 days, that means they’ll give away hundreds, if not thousands, of portions of 15 classic dishes. Today it’s the Black Daal, but who knows what tomorrow or the rest of the week has in store? Perhaps the famous Chilli Cheese Toast? The Gunpowder Potatoes? No matter what, it’s sure to be delicious.

How to get the free food at Dishoom

Every day between September 15-29, the restaurant group will reveal one beloved Dishoom classic on their Instagram Stories. This is available for diners to enjoy completely free of charge when dining in – on that day only.

To claim the free dish, simply head to your nearest Dishoom café or Permit Room location for a meal and show your server the daily story. You’ll receive the complimentary dish as part of your meal. No purchase is necessary, but if you’re settling in for the free dish, you might as well make a full meal out of it!

The giveaway of 15 free dishes is limited to one complimentary dish per table, per day, while provisions last.
