Blacklock is scheduled to open the first restaurant in Birmingham in the fall.
The Chophouse group converts St Philip’s house into a 100-seater restaurant and bar in the center of the ground floor.
This is Blacklock’s seventh restaurant after former lawyer Gordon Ker founded it in the Soho cellar in 2015.
Since then, Blacklock has expanded with the opening of Blacklock City in 2017, Blacklock Shoreditch in 2018, Blacklock Covent Garden in 2022 and Blacklock Canary Wharf in 2023. The group also launched its first regional restaurant in Manchester last year.
The Birmingham menu has steaks and searches cooked on the carbon, as well as Blacklock’s signature white cheesecake dessert that waiters offer directly on the table.
Ker said, “For 10 years from that shoe -tape from the Old Soho cellar, we are very enthusiastic about starting with Birmingham’s most beautiful buildings.
“The lively culture of the city and the flourishing local eatery have meant that we have always wanted to call it home. We have looked tall and low to a perfect place, and St Philip’s house has such a rich history with plenty of stories to tell. We are looking forward to recovering it to life, becoming a part of the local community and filling the restaurant with plenty of happy guests. “
Blacklock received the B Corp certificate in 2023 and plans to work with Midland new suppliers to get ingredients for fresh food and drinks from the Birmingham menu.
