ITV have confirmed that beloved Brummie, Alison Hammondwill present a new series of the award-winning TV show, ‘For The Love of Dogs‘, following the sad passing of Paul O’Grady last year.
Hammond will be heading down to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home to help the staff and volunteers take care of the animals and prepare them for their potential new owners.
The show first aired in 2012 and ran for eleven series with the late, great Paul O’Grady as the host. The much-loved O’Grady was well known for his love of animals and worked passionately to raise awareness for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
With the number of abandoned and stray dogs at an all-time high; the six-part series will shine some well-needed light on some of the latest arrivals at Battersea. Since the passing of Paul O’Grady last spring, the future of the hugely popular show had been uncertain until now. Alison is ready to embark on her new adventure, aware that she has some pretty big shoes to fill.
Commenting on the announcement, Alison said: “I am very aware that I can never replace the iconic Paul in this wonderful series, but if I can continue to shine a light on the brilliant work done at Battersea and help to tell the stories of these beautiful dogs, then it will be an absolute privilege to give it my all. I can’t wait to share the joy of their searches for new loving forever homes and hopefully make lots of furry friends of my own along the way!”
