If you were one of the many Londoners stung by the outrageous queues or the dreaded dynamic pricing of the recent Oasis ticket-sales; we have something that might mildly soften the blow for you. A carefully-curated collection of photographs of the beloved band are being exhibited in London later this month to celebrate the recent – and quite frankly chaos-inducing – reunion of the Gallagher brothersand the 30th anniversary of their ground-breaking album, Definitely Maybe.
Definitely Maybe: A View From Within
Unlike their shows next year, anybody can attend the exhibition. It will be taking place at Bethnal Green’s Town Hall Hotel for three months, starting at the end of October and will feature an impressive collection of snaps taken by British photographer, Michael Spencer Jones. Having recently waved their white flags, putting years (and we mean years) of squabbles behind them, Oasis is making their grand return to Wembley next year, and if you’re still crying your heart out about missing out on tickets; this is pretty much the next best thing, right?
Visitors will be able to feast their eyes on a special selection of Spencer Jones’ work with the band, including his famous album cover photograph for Definitely Maybe. It will be an exciting opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with some never-before-seen photos of the group, as well as some legendary shots taken by Spencer Jones.
Michael Spencer Jones rose to fame in the nineties for his work with genre-defining bands such as the Stone Roses and Happy Mondays. He met Oasis for the first time in 1993 and embarked on a period of artistic collaboration with them that would go on to span several years. During that time, Spencer Jones shot the cover photos for the bands first three albums and twelve singles. Definitely Maybe: A View From Within will showcase an array of extrordinary snaps taken throughout Spencer Jones’ time spent working with the band. A must-see for any Oasis superfans.
Town Hall Hotel will also be hosting a live Q&A with Michael Spencer Jones and much-loved music journalist, John Robb, at the end of November. Details for the Q&A have not yet been released, but we will definitely (not maybe) keep you updated.
Definitely Maybe: A View From Within lands at the Town Hall Hotel on October 25 and will run for 3 months. Timings are yet to be confirmed.
