In an endeavor to fill a rather sizeable gap in the market, British rap duo, Krept and Konanare making their retail debut next week in the form of a brand new grocery store. Tailored specifically to better meet the needs of South London’s diverse local community, Saveways will be a 15,000 square feet site, specialising in premium halal produce and world foods.

The trailblazing project has been created in partnership with entrepreneur, Kaysor Ali. All three founders have strong connections to South London, and together are aiming to address the long-standing challenges faced by the Black, Asian and ethnic communities in the local area.

Saveways will offer fresh halal meat and poultry counters, fresh and frozen exotic fish, fresh fruit and veg and a fresh bakery section, alongside other world foods, household essentials and hair and beauty products. Aiming to be more than just a supermarket, Saveways will also serve as a hub for the local communityproviding a space that celebrates cultural diversity.

Saveways strives to provide the product variety, hygiene standards, and fair pricing that has previously been lacking and underserved in the local area. Alongside its supermarket offering, the store will also operate a wholesale service for restaurants and takeaways, and the opening of Saveways will see over 30 jobs created.

Krept and Konan said: “We wanted to bring together under one roof everything the Black, Asian, and ethnic communities in South London need. We wanted to offer more than just groceries – we sought to provide a diverse range of world foods. We believe that high-quality, diverse food should never be a luxury.

“We hope to contribute to unity, progress, and a stronger sense of belonging for marginalized communities. This is just the beginning and we look forward to serving South London in more unique ways for years to come.”

Saveways will open at 102 Beddington Lane, Croydon, CR0 4YX at 12pm on February 1.
