Wembley Stadium, famous for hosting massive football matches and huge concerts, can be a bit of a nightmare to leave due to its massive 90,000 capacity. If you’re planning a visit soon – like for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour – it’s wise to plan your departure in advance to avoid getting stuck in a long queue at the station that can take up to 40 minutes.
Here’s our handy guide to help you make a quick exit and avoid those annoying queues.
When it comes to trains and the Underground, Wembley Stadium is served by two Tube stations and three lines – Wembley Park, which runs the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines, and Wembley Central, which runs the Bakerloo line and the London Overground.
If you’re aiming to head towards Wembley Park, your best bet is to take Olympic Way (also known as Wembley Way), which is the long, straight road that runs north from the stadium’s main entrance and exit (see below).
For Wembley Central, you’ll want to cross the White Horse Bridge, a footbridge that leads from the stadium and crosses the tracks. This bridge was built specifically for crowds coming from Wembley Stadium and is only open when the venue is in use.
Wembley Central Station, which is just south-west of the venue, also serves the National Rail – Southern Railways and Watford DC line.
Alternatively, if you require Chiltern Railway services, you can head to Wembley Stadium station. The nearest of all the stations is only 400 meters away, it is on the south-west side of the premises.
You can even take a coach direct to the stadium from over 55 locations across the UK. National Express is the official coach provider for Wembley Stadium – you can Book your tickets here.
Wembley Stadium is primarily a ‘public transport destination’ so it is not recommended that you take a taxi or drive. However, if you need parking, you can reserve a space in the official stadium car park.
If you need a taxi outside of peak hours, it is recommended to use only a licensed taxi. For information on licensed minicab services, click here.
