Influencer-founded athleisure wear brand Tala is a firm favourite among fashion fans for achieving that effortlessly cool, off-duty look that can take you from the gym to the office, to your weekend plans with ease. And now, for the first time ever, London shoppers are able to try on their DayFlex leggings and figure-skimming styles in person.

Launched in 2019 by Grace Beverley, the supportive yet stylish fashion brand has previously only been available to purchase online. But for a limited time, it’s popped up inside London, Birmingham and Manchester Selfridges stores to give customers chance to feel and try on the always sold-out pieces before they buy, The Mirror reports.

Not only does this mean fashion fans will be able to find their perfect fit in-store, but it will also eliminate the part of online shopping we all loathe – and that’s returning anything we may not love. I headed in-store to try on some of the brand’s most popular styles to see if it really is worth all the social media hype. And spoiler – it is.

Making its highly anticipated Selfridges debut on Friday, May 10, the small but carefully crafted collection features a selection of spring and summer staples, as well as their core collections like DayFlex, Sculpt Seamless, Signature Sweats, and 365 Sculpting Lounge. I asked a customer assistant to help me pick out some of the most popular styles, and there’s one that gets you way more bang for your buck.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that the Girlfriend Bomber Jacket comes in four colours, as it would appear on the rails. Instead, it’s actually just two colourways with a reversible design, meaning you get two looks for the price of one. Some creative girl math would mean that’s basically half-price (or a free jacket).

The Tala jacket initially looks as though it comes in four colours

I tried the cool olive and graphite colourway, but it also comes in pebble and truffle. Coming in at £129, it offers a boxy fit with dropped shoulders and pockets to carry all of your essentials, with Tala suggesting going up two sizes if you prefer an oversized look. I wasn’t overly keen on the cropped fit, but it did make my legs look longer, and the matte-touch material was incredibly tactile.

One shopper who bought it left a five-star review on the Tala website, commenting: “I am amazed how good value for money this is. The quality is great when it gets a bit warmer and I have it undone it’s breathable and I don’t get sweaty. When it’s cold and done up it has kept me warm. Oh, and it’s reversible so I have worn it 50 times at least since owning it and just changing up the colours whenever it suits my outfit. I love it.”

Tala Girlfriend Bomber Jacket

Say hello to the Bomber Jacket of your dreams. This style offers a boxy girlfriend fit and dropped shoulders, and goes with just about anything. It’s reversible, available in two dual colour ways in a durable and matte-touch material.

Another added: “Love this. So good to travel with cause it’s warm and you get two jackets in one! ” But a third said: “Quality of the material was poor and the fit was off. The material had a weird feeling.”

A fourth added: “Love this jacket, been wearing it nonstop since I got it! It’s super lightweight but keeps me warm and I love the colourway it goes with every outfit.”

Bomber jackets are the perfect coat for springtime thanks to their lightweight, warmth and gorgeous style. What’s more is in 2024 there are a plethora of style options to help you perfect your image, from leather and linen to satin and velvet not to mention cropped, casual shapes as well as oversized, cosy types.

The reverse colour is this deep graphite shade

Some others that shoppers have been loving include River Island’s Blue Cropped Denim Bomber Jacketwhich boasts a slightly cropped style, baseball collar, decorative pockets and a zip fastening, while M&S’s Padded Bomber Jacket has been praised for its versatility and style as well as comfort level,

But for an effortlessly chic and versatile throw-on-and-go jacket that boasts two ways to wear, I really don’t think you can go far wrong with Tala’s.
